Martha has
developed her artistic career from her natural instinct to
be self taught, her educational background in fine art and
education and her basic desire to explore the
opportunities of life.
"When my
grandfather died I was given his carving tools and this
was the beginning of my sculpting career. My
grandfather was a boat builder and carver. When I am
carving with his tools I feel that I am carrying on the
tradition of our family which has a great history of
creative artists."
Martha has also developed a
spontaneous way of connecting with people. Her choice to
get her Bachelor of Education was specifically related her
desire share her abilities as a facilitator and teacher.
One of her plans is to offer a coop teaching program here
at the Centre so that students can discover the joys and
challenges of being a creative artist. She enjoys
being a Life Skills facilitator and helps others to get
motivated and find practical action plans for moving ahead
into new positive ways of living.
"As
a child I was part of the craft shows and events at Elm
Tree Farm and was guided by my father to always find ways
of communicating with people. What piqued my interest in
this regard was a desire to help people explore the
discovery of life's opportunities."

The AYAEN - Healing Tones
"Toning uses
sound patterns to create balance."
Martha uses
varied sounds in her healing practice for creating balance. In 1997 a new series of sounds came
to
Martha's awareness. It became clear that this was a healing
song that could be used in many ways to help rejuvenate your
energy.
A few days later the words to the song came. "Ayaen" means
"I am".
